After traditionalist blog blocked: How deep does the conflict go?

They are omnipresent in the virtual battlefield of Catholic debates: traditionalists and reformers. On blogs, portals and social media channels, they battle it out over liturgy, the magisterium and interpretive sovereignty. The traditionalists often seem to be one step ahead of the reformers online - with successful blogs and widely read platforms. One example is the blog launched in 2007 by Italian supporters of the pre-conciliar mass, "messainlatino.it", which counted over one million visits in June 2025 alone - before Google recently blocked it. Blog editor-in-chief Luigi Casalini announced that he would take legal action: The Italian constitution prohibits the suppression of freedom of thought and opinion.
