US priest affiliates with FSSPX, canonical proceedings started. Rev. Philip Conklin, 38, a priest of St. Paul and Minneapolis, has affiliated with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX), and his archbishop has initiated a canonical process against him. It will presumably see the priest declared excommunicated. Archbishop Bernard Hebda wrote on September 30 in the archdiocese’s newspaper: “After confirming with Father Conklin that he does not intend to cease this affiliation, I have felt compelled to commence a canonical process to clarify the situation and his status.” Rev. Conklin was ordained a priest by Archbishop Hebda relatively recently, on May 25, 2024. In March 2026, he went on a six-month leave of absence to discern his priestly vocation. In a September 11 letter, he asked priests to review how they actually celebrate the Eucharist in light of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM). Worse than Germany: Funeral held in Paris Archdiocese for prominent actor who was killed by euthanasia. French actor Arnaud Denis was killed by euthanasia in Belgium on September 22, aged 43. He received a Catholic funeral at Saint-Roch Church in Paris on October 1. Denis had been seriously ill for about three years. His health collapsed after a routine hernia operation in 2023, during which a surgical mesh implant was placed in his body. He suffered severe pain, lost significant weight and developed debilitating health problems that eventually left him disabled. The implant was later removed, but his health did not recover. He requested euthanasia in Belgium and made his plans publicly known in January. According to TribuneChrétienne.com, Saint-Roch confirmed that Denis was a baptized Catholic and that the funeral was held at his request and that of his family.
