At the Catholic Identity Conference in Pittsburgh on October 4, Bishop Athanasius Schneider delivered a diagnosis of the crisis in the Church, describing it as a “hostile takeover” from within. “We are witnesses of an unprecedented crisis of the Church,” Schneider said, pointing to “poisonous doctrinal ambiguities” and even “brazen heresies in the ranks of the high clergy”. “The world Christ warned of seems to have occupied the Church’s strategic administrative positions.
