Having been raised with a strange mix of adult supervision, I had exposure to a few sides if truth.
My Mothers family was skilled at lying and did it rather than tell the truth.
My Fathers family was skilled at conveying valuable life long lessons.
Add this to the doctors telling my parents I was going to die before reaching 30, my parents were resource managing and I did not get the greatest medical care... they had doctors lie to me. I was 19 before I learned some of it and the balance was a 'death bed' conversation with my father in my 34th year of life.
Not an ideal upbringing... but, it certainly allowed me the understanding that when a person in 'authority' speaks; they are subject to misrepresentation (like all are).
Trust but verify... sad thing is that the 'education' system decided for removal of that maxim as well as the tools for verification from the curriculum.
