Hong Kong’s Court of Appeal has upheld the conviction of Cardinal Joseph Zen, 94, and four other former trustees of a humanitarian fund. Cardinal Zen attended court using a walking stick. He was convicted in 2022 alongside barrister and former legislator Margaret Ng, former lawmaker Cyd Ho, singer Denise Ho and academic Hui Po-keung for failing to register the 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund under Hong Kong’s Societies Ordinance. Each was fined HK$4,000 (about €440). The convictions were the first of their kind under the ordinance. The fund was established in June 2019 to provide legal, medical and other financial assistance to people arrested or injured during the protests. It ceased operations in October 2021. Entitled, "Do You Know Them to Be Worthy?", the file was written by Father Thomas V. Berg and psychologist Timothy G. Lock. The report draws on research commissioned from the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) and a consultation held at Notre Dame in September 2025. The proposals concern psychological assessment, candidates with particular psychological or developmental conditions, and formation for chastity and celibacy. It addresses candidates with conditions including ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder and autism spectrum disorder. On homosexual attraction, the Notre Dame authors note that a pause in formation may "more often than not" lead to a decision not to advance a candidate toward ordination. US Sisters and the Macarena Retirement Tour: The Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) held its 70th anniversary gathering in Orlando, Florida, from 11 to 14 August. They posted a video on Facebook showing elderly women in civilian clothes dancing the Macarena (1995). The fitting headline: "When Catholic sisters get together, watch out for the dance parties! ". Macarena was popular when the sisters were in their 50s. The LCWR represents the leaders of many women's religious congregations in the United States.

Monsignor Anthony Spinosa, 75, a Maronite Catholic priest, has been accused of engaging in a public homosexual act with registered sex offender Kenneth Kopp, 54, at Perkins Park in Warren, Ohio, according to Wfmj.com.
