Cardinal Baldassarre Reina, Vicar General for the Diocese of Rome, refused permission for the Catholic funeral of Bruno Battisti D’Amario, a guitarist and senior figure in Italian freemasonry. D’Amario, who died on August 5 aged 88, was known for his collaboration with Ennio Morricone and played guitar on famous soundtracks including A Fistful of Dollars, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Once Upon a Time in the West. His funeral had initially been approved at Santa Maria in Montesanto, Rome’s “Church of the Artists.” After his death, however, the Grand Orient of Italy revealed that D’Amario had held significant roles within freemasonry. He had founded a Roman lodge, composed the organization’s official anthem, and held several senior positions. Bishop Mark A. Eckman, 67, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will bring an end to the traditional Latin Mass at St. Titus Church in Aliquippa after nearly 20-years. Bishop Eckman was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh in 2021. In June 2025, Leo XIV promoted him to Bishop of Pittsburgh. In a letter dated 7 August (see below), Monsignor Eckman announced that the final Mass to be held at St. Titus using the 1962 Missal is scheduled for 4 September. The remaining two traditional Latin Masses in Pittsburgh are offered by the Institute Christ the King in Brighton Heights and by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X in the West End. Bishop Eckman said his predecessor, Bishop David A. Zubik, received Vatican permission in 2022 to continue the Mass at St. Titus. Two Thirds of the Congregation said Medjugorje was NOT Supernatural According to Murgia, 33 participants were asked to provide written opinions, or 'vota', on the Medjugorje phenomenon. Brigitte Stegemann was an 83-year-old great-grandmother and a Christian. On July 10, she died through Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program in Ontario. Diagnosed with terminal Stage IV stomach cancer, Stegemann had wanted to die naturally. But while her granddaughter and longtime legal representative, Brigitte Kranendonk, was away on vacation, medical personnel discussed MAiD with Stegemann. She was subsequently deemed capable of choosing MAiD despite allegedly being unable to answer basic questions about her own family. Hiroshima must remain forever in humanity's memory as a warning, not a precedent. Behind that explosion lay lives, families, dreams, and generations scarred by a pain that should never be repeated. No conflict, ideology, or pursuit of power can justify such a tragedy. May the memory of Hiroshima help us understand that, given our capacity for self-destruction, peace, dialogue, and reason are not merely options—they are a responsibility we owe to humanity and to generations yet to come. The detective declared that the negro had taken about three or four minutes for this. "Boots" Rogers was next called and asked one question about the condition of the basement.
